BEAUTY BLOG JUNKIE

If your whole bod craves some natural treatment, KORRES  NATURAL PRODUCTS is the line for you.  This Greek company’s skin, hair, and sun care products are extracted from plants, herbs, and flowers, and can be traced back to Grandpa Korres’ Homeopathic Pharmacy on the Island of Naxos.  I love the packaging as much as the products.

|1| Korres “Fresh Scents” Shower gels($11 each) are available in Basil Lemon, Mint Tea, Citrus, and Coriander.  I tried the Citrus and, as usual, had to avoid licking myself in the shower.  The recipes may be old, but the product line is always on top of trends, like |2| Pomegranate Balancing Moisturizer ($24) (but it only has an SPF of 6, so you’ll need an additional something to protect your skin).  |3| Wild Rose Moisturizer ($27) is packed with Vitamin C that can help repair fine lines and discolorations.  One treatment works for a whole day.  And |4| Evening Primrose Eye Cream ($30) is made with Zinc Oxide for sun protection and linoleic acid to keep your skin moist moist moist.  And you know those lovely ladies of Naxos gotta keep their skin supple somehow…Get your Korres fix at www.sephora.com.

An old fave with some great new products, BURT’S BEES has a new “Farmer’s Market Line” that uses fruits and veggies to nourish and smooth the skin.

If I make one fashion faux-pas (and I rarely do), it’s that I have a tendency to pick at my dry cuticles.  I know!  So gross.  But in the winter they get especially dry, no matter what I do.  So as the temperatures begin to rise, I was excited to play with Burt’s |1| Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream ($5).  Like other cuticle creams, it comes in a tin, but the texture is different – no mush factor whatsoever.  And that yummy lemony scent makes me want to…chew on my cuticles.  Damn!

The |2| Lemon Poppyseed Facial Cleanser ($8) has the consistency of butter – make sure your grandma doesn’t get a hold of it and accidentally use it as a schmear.  Lemon oil and yucca cleanse the face; the poppy seeds are supposed to exfoliate; and oils and vitamins moisturize. I’m new-cleanser-phobic, but I did like this as a change…a sweet, lemony change… follow up with the |3| Wild Lettuce Toner ($10)  that has chamomile and cucumber and you feel like your skin got an extra dose of greens for the day.

Okay, so sometimes it takes a whole lot of products to look perfectly natural.  The thing to remember is that it’s not shimmer powder or moisturizing lotion that makes a woman beautiful – it’s the confidence and pride that shines from within.

Still, a little lip-gloss doesn’t hurt.

Love,

Wendy
