Abigail’s Revenge by Pat Ballard

Abigail’s Revenge by Pat Ballard

“Abigail’s Revenge” is a romantic suspense novel that you will not be able to put down.

Abigail Avery returns to her home town after spending 10 years in jail for a crime she did not commit. At eighteen her father was murdered and the true killer is still out there. She is intent on exacting revenge on those who falsely accused her.

Desh Elliot, the most popular boy from her high school, has loved Abigail for as long as he can remember. He waits for her and intends to help her clear her name. But first, he must tell Abigail how he feels about her. She is unaware that Desh has always loved her.

Together Desh and Abigail work to solve the mystery and clear her name. Moreover, they learn to love, rely on and completely trust one another.

"Abigail’s Revenge" has both suspense and romance. Just when the reader thinks everything is figured out, another twist evolves. "Abigail’s Revenge" makes the reader anxious to find out exactly what happens. Ms. Ballard combined both suspense and romance in this book and it has just the right combination of both.

Little Earthquakes by Jennifer Weiner

Jennifer Weiner has done it again. Her books give us characters that we can relate to and that we think about long after the last page is read and the book is closed.

When three women come together at their prenatal yoga class and one later through happenstance, they are not expecting their lives forever changed by the friendships they form.

They navigate through last stage pregnancy, birth, death, healing, husbands and relationships all with the strength of today’s modern woman.

Becky is a chef, happily married with the mother-in-law from hell. Although she and her husband have a great relationship, she does not want her interfering mother-in-law to negatively affect her marriage.

Kelly is a perky event planner who is obsessed at having all of the material things she was denied as a child. Her fantasy life comes to a screeching halt when her husband loses his job. Things are further complicated by what she feels is his unwillingness or lack of initiative to hurry up and find another job so that they can continue to live in the style  she has dreamt of and become accustomed to.

Little Earthquakes by Jennifer Weiner

Ayinde is a beautiful reporter married to a famous basketball player. She has always felt like she didn’t quite fit in due to her mixed heritage. Her life is turned upside down due to her husband betrayal of their marriage vows.

Lia connects with the women midway through the novel. She is a famous actress who has runaway to her childhood home hiding a terrible secret involving her own brief experience at motherhood. Through her relationship with Becky and the other women she slowly finds herself again and is able to deal with her grief.

Set in Philadelphia and its surrounding areas these women will discover that their desire for motherhood and family is as important as finding themselves.

I REALLY enjoyed this book. I was a bit surprised since I had my doubts that I would be able to relate to the story since I am not a mother. However, I did relate to all of the characters. This book is for all women. It reconfirms the need for true girl friends who with one another do not measure thought or word nor do they cast judgment yet they continually lend support and encouragement. I would love it if these four women were my friends!
